Lesley Charnock's Gallery, Studio & Art School

In September 2006 Lesley completed building her new Studio at Montebello Art and Design Centre in Newlands.

“It has always been my dream to have my own studio and teaching space somewhere in a lovely environment.’ The beautiful space leading out onto an indigenous garden works wonderfully as a small intimate gallery showcasing the many different styles Lesley enjoys working in.

Montebello has it all!  Lesley’s Studio and Gallery is surrounded by other artists including potters, papermakers, weavers, jewelers, African musical instrument makers and even a forge!

There are two fascinating retail shops displaying South African made gifts. Montebello also has a Nursery called The Greenhouse, part of which is in an authentic Victorian glass house! Housed in a picturesque Victorian cottage under the most beautiful tree, is the well known restaurant, The Gardeners Cott

The Next workshop at Lesley Charnock’s Gallery will be:

A one day portrait workshop.
We will look at how to improve your drawing of the portrait and then how to paint the portrait in oils.
If you have been hesitant to do a portrait class before, this is the perfect opportunity! You are guided all the way and I will do demos of the drawing and painting. I will use some of the teaching techniques from the course Drawing on the Right side off the Brain.

Drawing paper and charcoal will be supplied but please bring firm cardboard or a masonite drawing board,  45x 55 cm, plus your paints etc  and a canvas (size  34 x 46 cm)  I will provide easels and side tables , tea and coffee.
